Here's the big difference:
Notion is great as a team workspace and to get things done while capacities is geared towards taking notes and building a knowledge base.
Imagine you take hundreds to thousands of notes. You'll have diminishing returns if you try to organize them in a hierarchy or rigid databases. At capacities we take a different approach: You just create ideas, questions, books, notes, .. and connect them afterwards with related ideas. By that you create a network of thoughts that becomes more valuable the more knowledge and ideas you add. It's a huge difference in how you take notes and on top how think and develop ideas.","title":null,"type":"comment","url":null}],"created_at":"2022-06-02T10:07:23.000Z","created_at_i":1654164443,"id":31593175,"options":[],"parent_id":31592670,"points":null,"story_id":31592670,"text":"it looks very similar to notion, what's the difference?","title":null,"type":"comment","url":null},{"author":"secondbrainguy","children":[],"created_at":"2022-06-02T12:50:41.000Z","created_at_i":1654174241,"id":31594158,"options":[],"parent_id":31592670,"points":null,"story_id":31592670,"text":"Cool to see this on HN. Have been using it for a while now, there are really some cool new concepts in there. Like for example that all media is automatically treated as an entity that can be reused, tagged, and organized in various ways and then you can take your notes just for this entity, but in a nested way. Huge potential in typed notes as well. Will be interesting to see how it develops! Since it'S cloud based I think they will be able to do some really cool social sharing/content analysis/recommendation things in the future. A lot of similarities to Notion (I think mostly in a good way), but a very nice implementation of daily notes, and tags for example that Notion lacks.","title":null,"type":"comment","url":null}],"created_at":"2022-06-02T08:26:54.000Z","created_at_i":1654158414,"id":31592670,"options":[],"parent_id":null,"points":17,"story_id":31592670,"text":"Hi there,
we launched capacities.io - your second brain. It's a new note-taking app that solves your problem of organizing all the information you consume every day and turns it to a valuable and growing asset.
In short:
- Capture ideas when you have them: Just send a message to capacities from your favorite messenger and it will be saved to your second brain.
- Organized by type: Don't create faceless pages but define meetings, ideas, questions, or books. Adapt your note-taking to your context and your thinking.
- Say goodbye to folders: An intuitive approach to networked thinking. Don't think about the folder your note should die in before you even start writing. Just start and connect it to all related ideas over time. You will create a highly connected second brain that stays valuable even if you add thousands of notes.
Feel free to try it out, it\u2019s free. Just sign up at capacities.io
And of course we\u2019d love to get your feedback, just reach out at team@capacities.io.","title":"Launching a new approach to note-taking / knowledge organization: capacities.io","type":"story","url":null}
